Six people, including three children, are being treated for injuries after a car accelerated onto a sidewalk in Brooklyn during an NYPD Halloween event on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near Knickerbocker Avenue and Bleecker Street, where families had gathered for the 83rd Precinct's Trunk-Or-Treat.

Authorities identified the driver as Michael Marsh, 56. Police said he was intoxicated and well over the legal limit for alcohol. He was charged late Thursday with vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, and driving while impaired and intoxicated. Law enforcement sources stated there is no indication Marsh intended to target police officers or pedestrians.

Witnesses described a black sedan speeding onto the pavement and striking pedestrians and a parked ambulance. Caira Lewis, an eyewitness, said the vehicle hit two cars and three people. Another witness reported hearing a loud impact that prompted attendees to flee, initially fearing gunfire.

Medical officials confirmed that three women and three children were transported to local hospitals. A 31-year-old woman and her daughters, aged 6 and 11, were taken to Bellevue Hospital. A 53-year-old woman was admitted to Elmhurst Hospital, while a 74-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy are at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.

The gathering took place outside a police station, allowing officers to respond immediately. Witnesses said Marsh was attempting to leave the scene when officers approached and arrested him. At the crash site, a vehicle bumper remained entangled in candy wrappers.
