Scattered showers and thunderstorms will impact the Suncoast of Florida on Sunday, with the heaviest activity expected during the afternoon and evening hours. A low pressure system is driving moisture into the peninsula, creating unsettled conditions for outdoor events.

The Lakewood Ranch Farmer’s Market at Waterside Place in Sarasota operates from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1651 Lakefront Drive. Blues musician Zach Pomerleau is scheduled to perform for attendees. Organizers advise visitors to keep umbrellas ready due to the forecast.

The Wellen Park Farmers Market in Venice runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 19745 Wellen Park Blvd. Similar storm activity is expected in this area throughout the day. Shoppers are urged to head indoors if they hear thunder, as dangerous lightning is possible.

The Coquina Beach Market on the south side of Anna Maria Island is open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Located in Bradenton Beach, this upscale market faces a moderate rip current risk and minimal surf. East winds will blow at 10 to 20 mph.

Cloudy skies will persist across the region with numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. Some heavy rains are possible in the afternoon, which could lead to localized flooding. Surfers should note that waves will measure a foot or less.

The beach forecast indicates a moderate lightning risk despite the lack of strong surf. Visitors are encouraged to monitor the sky and seek shelter when storms approach. These conditions affect popular beach destinations along the Gulf Coast.
