At least five people were injured when Russian missiles struck Kyiv early Saturday morning. The explosions damaged residential and commercial buildings, forcing authorities to close a bridge over the Dnipro River. New outages affected the city's power and water systems.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that energy facilities in Kyiv and the Zhytomyr region were damaged during the night attack. He described the energy situation in the capital as extremely difficult, noting that heating and water supply systems are under strain.
The strikes occurred as Ukraine prepared for a new round of diplomatic meetings. Negotiators from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States are scheduled to convene in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. This gathering will be the fourth peace effort brokered by the Trump administration, following the most recent session in Geneva in February.
Western governments supporting the initiative are working to establish a new framework to resolve the conflict. Officials acknowledge that questions regarding territory and security remain unresolved despite the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
In southern Ukraine, recovery operations continued in the village of Komyshuvakha. The location near the front line in the Zaporizhzhia region was devastated on Monday when Russian guided bombs hit a former school and nearby shelter. The site had been used as an aid distribution center for residents.
Fifty-five people were killed in the Monday attack, with two additional bodies recovered early Saturday. Dozens of individuals remain missing as search teams continue their work in the area.
